The Australian Surf Industry Association (ASI) is a non-profit organisation representing surf retailers and industry brands across Australia. ASI is committed to protecting the privacy of individuals whose personal information we collect and handle.

ASI uses your personal information only for the purposes for which it was collected, or for related purposes you would reasonably expect. These include:

6. Disclosure to Third Parties
ASI does not sell, rent or trade your personal information. We may share your information with third parties only in the following circumstances:
Service providers who assist us in operating our programs — including QI Insights (research and survey administration), Mailchimp (email delivery), SurveyMonkey (survey platform), Google Forms (registrations and enquiries), MembershipWorks (membership management and event registration), and Dropbox (document storage). These providers are engaged under confidentiality obligations and are not permitted to use your data for their own purposes.
Prize suppliers, but only to the extent required to deliver a prize you have won (name and delivery address only).
Regulatory or law enforcement bodies where required by law.
Your survey responses and personal information will not be provided to any third-party businesses, brand partners, agencies or prize providers for marketing purposes under any circumstances.
7. Data Storage and Security
ASI takes reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure, in accordance with Australian Privacy Principle 11 (APP 11). Your information is stored on secure third-party platforms (including Mailchimp, SurveyMonkey, Google Forms, MembershipWorks, and Dropbox) that maintain their own industry-standard security practices.
Access to all third-party platforms used by ASI is restricted to authorised ASI staff only. ASI does not permit external parties, contractors, or board members to access platforms containing personal information unless expressly required and authorised for a specific purpose.
We retain personal information only for as long as necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, or as required by law. In line with APP 11.2, personal information that is no longer needed and is not required to be retained by law will be destroyed or de-identified. Survey entry data is retained for a minimum of 12 months following the close of the promotion period. Membership records are retained for the duration of membership and for a reasonable period thereafter.
In the event of a data breach that is likely to result in serious harm to any individual, ASI will notify affected individuals and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) as soon as practicable, in accordance with the Notifiable Data Breaches (NDB) scheme under Part IIIC of the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

Under the Privacy Act 1988 and Australian Privacy Principles, you have the right to:

Request correction of inaccurate, incomplete or out-of-date information
Withdraw consent for us to use your information (where consent is the basis for collection)
